Nova Wins BCA Deal

2008– novaCITYNETS Pte Ltd was awarded a multi-million
contract by the Building and Construction Authority
(BCA) in 2007 to provide professional services to manage,
operate, support, deliver and enhance the CORENET Electronic
Submission System (CORENET eSS), a mission-critical
electronic service to the construction and real estate
industry and the 16 participating government agencies.
The award is for a period of 5 years with an option
to extend the contract for another 5 years.
In addition, novaCITYNETS was granted the rights
to market commercial value-added services, including
training, consultancy, online promotion, e-Services,
via the CORENET e-Submission System and novaCITYNETS’
new Business Portal.
The CORENET Electronic Submission System is a nation-wide
B2G and G2G portal, facilitating electronic submission
and approval of all types of application made to the
Government Agencies throughout the property development
life cycle. This was a major IT initiative under the
Singapore’s IT 2000 master plan. The CORENET
initiative was to re-engineer and streamline the fragmented
work processes in the construction industry to achieve
a quantum leap in productivity. The system was officially
launched in November 2001 by Mr Mah Bow Tan, Singapore’s
Minister for National Development.
In one of the press release for the launch, The Straits
Times has reported that the system would help the
construction industry to save an estimated S$160 million
a year.
Today, the CORENET eSS is part of everyday life for
the construction industry; an applicant can now prepare
and submit electronic documents to the relevant agencies
from the comfort of their home or office at any time
of the day. This project continues to bring about
significant manpower and cost savings to both the
industry and government agencies.
